Outdoor Green
Across the UK, half a million people participate in outdoor bowling at both amateur and professional levels. An essential part of playing bowls is the bowling green. Great skill and finesse is necessary during construction and also on-going maintenance, to provide a good bowling experience for anyone who plays the game.
At Welford we employ a professional team, Avonmore Ltd, to maintain our green and ensure all the necessary treatments and processes are carried out across the year, to ensure that the green is kept at a very high standard and to provide a good bowling experience.
The Club’s outdoor green is set in an idyllic rural village setting, in sight of the local church and close to the river Avon with adequate parking facilities.
Because we have a 6-rink green we can play bowls in any direction, which ensures an even surface due to wear and tear, by altering the direction of play and also by moving the rink markers on a regular basis.
The green is normally open from the end of April to the end of September and members are encouraged to play in friendly matches, leagues and Club, County and National Competitions as well as against visiting touring teams.
